G. Michael's Bistro - Come Rain or Shine

I love all Sundays, but there’s something about rainy ones that really gets me. Maybe it’s the fact that you don’t feel pressure to go out and get something done. You can’t do yard work or go for a run. You have a good excuse to see a movie or mole up on the couch. Basically you can bum around with your husband or your bestie and actually do what the weekend is meant for… relaxation.

With all the rain lately, I’ve been embracing this ideal full force. Just a couple of weeks ago we spent Sunday wondering through German Village. We popped in and out of stores, hung out at the Book Loft and grabbed dinner at Max & Erma’s. Afterwards we decided to find somewhere to get a drink and dessert.

That’s how I discovered G. Michael’s.

Though I’ve driven past it a hundred times, I’ve never stopped in and checked the restaurant out. What a perfect place for a rainy day date. We sat at the bar and ordered a deep glass of red and the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar – which was, quite possibly, the best dessert I’ve ever had. A rich oatmeal chocolate chip cookie is served HOT with fresh whip cream and a scoop of Jeni’s Salty Carmel Ice Cream. Um, yeah.

The atmosphere is cozy – with exposed brick, big booths and amazing art and photography. And, our service was impeccable.

Long story short, we can’t wait to come back for dinner, to check out their patio… or even spend another rainy Sunday at the bar.
